IATBBAT Participation at the IOPTMH Conference, Chile

Four members of IATBBAT participated in the IOPTMH Conference held in Concepción, Chile, from April 23–25, 2026. In addition to presenting their own work, they attended a variety of inspiring presentations, engaged in professional discussions, and took part in valuable networking activities with colleagues from around the world working in the field of physiotherapy and mental health.

The IATBBAT representatives contributed to the scientific programme in several ways:


  • Elisa Galvez (Mexico) participated in the round table discussion on Education.

  • Jonna Jensen (Denmark) delivered a two-hour workshop entitled “Therapeutic Intervention – Basic Body Awareness Therapy” and participated in the round table discussion “Physiotherapeutic Techniques in Mental Health”.


  • Daniel Catala (Spain) delivered a two-hour workshop entitled “Balance, Breathing and Awareness: The Therapeutic Power of BBAT in Mental Health” and a master class "Body image and movement: physiotherapy is key in the multidisciplinary care of eating disorders"

  • Tanja Johnsen (Denmark) presented a poster “Groupbased Basic Body Awareness Therapy for patients with Depression and Anxiety measured on Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness Scale”.
